Discovering the wonder of nature on our doorstep

A community project to discover, support and reconnect with the nature all around us, seeing the wonder in the everyday wild.

The idea

What we’re doing

This year we’re going Wild at About Enham, finding out what wildlife Enham is home to and how we can support it, while providing better spaces for the community to engage with nature.  We’re building an accessible nature trail, introducing wildlife - friendly areas across the village and launching a Big Wildlife Count in June, all to bring nature closer to our community and celebrate the wildlife on our doorstep.  And we want you to be a part of it.

Why we’re doing it

Enham sits in the heart of the Hampshire countryside, and we want to understand, protect and enhance the natural environment that makes our village so special, while providing the health and wellbeing benefits of nature to all. By learning what species live here, we can improve habitats and develop our green spaces to make Enham an exemplar for accessible nature.  This project will also give the community the opportunity to play a meaningful role in conservation, helping us shape greener, safer, more connected spaces for everyone.

How you can get involved: key dates

Activity

The Big Wildlife Count is taking place on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 June

Over the two days, you can explore our new nature trail, and help us to record all the different species we find across the village. You can also share what access to nature means to you and what you’d like to see at Enham. Nature Friendly Gardening

No Mow May

We’re taking part in No Mow May across designated areas around the village. These areas will be signposted accordingly, and we encourage you to get involved too! Let the weeds grow in your garden this May and help our bees, butterflies and other pollinators thrive this Spring.

Talks

You can also come along to our April and May talks with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, and discover easy ways to help wildlife thrive and flourish in your own garden.
